COOLEAD- USB 3.0 to VGA Video Graphic Card Display External Cable Adapter for PC Laptop Windows 7/8

This thing works great on my Laptop. Laptop is i5 chipset and the adapter is running through USB 3.0 port. For the price it's worth the chance, especially for laptop users. If you have a recent laptop with USB 3.0 it will probably work just fine. Make sure you get the latest driver (http://www.frescologic.com/support.php).Since it is not really it's own card and runs off the cpu graphics, it will flicker on more intensive video operations. But what do you expect for this price. I use it with Camtasia (video design software) and it works great. But it will flicker when the software is rendering the video. I've also played some less graphic intensive games on it just fine. Just don't expect too much in that area. But it will play movies and Netflix (depending on your computer).I like it so much that I actually bought a second one. But they conflicted and wouldn't both play at the same time. However, I needed a monitor at another location for reading scripts for audio recording. I just switch between them using windows graphics options by disabling one and enabling the other. No moving monitors or switching cables. But I could have done the same with a video switch.

Did not work for mac and could not find a way to get a driver installed.

You get what you pay for and this is absolute garbage. I saw the 5 star ratings saying all it needs is a driver, this is however, not the case, there are no good working drivers for this to function with windows 8, and i doubt it functions at all with any computer F-

This only partially worked at first. It displayed as extended properly, but showed artifacts in Chrome because it was conflicting with my switchable graphics (3 is plenty). I contacted COOLEAD for an updated driver and they sent me this link:frescologic.com/support.php(the FLUSBVGA driver)I have no issues now! No artifacts, no conflicting drivers- nada! Images display correctly and videos play smoothly on my 2 1080p ProArt monitors- it's an incredible added capability for my laptop.I recommend anyone having issues with this to at least try out the new driver and save themselves the money they would otherwise need to spend on the expensive alternatives!

Neither my windows 7 nor Window 8 laptop detected it out of the box...However, picked up the drivers from [...] and it works like a charm.One note though, if you don't have USB 3.0, don't bother with this. Looks like a 1980s TV... I tried it on a 2.0 port just to see and it was s***.That said, on a 3.0 port (Even with a 3.0 splitter), I get full 1920x1080 that has the same response as my original VGA... which is freaking awesome for the price.

It's a good product, but de resolution and velocity is poor

Doesn't work for Windows 8, brand new computer. Cycles between one and two monitors every few seconds. Cycles between On, On with a lighted blank black screen, and Off. Purchase something else.

Works pretty well, does some odd things sometimes, but serves quite well as a signal generator (which was my purpose for buying it). I can get an image from it, actually up to 1920 x 1080 (which impressed me). IT'll depend on your USB bus as to what it can handle I guess...

I bought this for the addition of a 3rd monitor for a Lenovo laptop.I need it for looking at a chart with moving candlesticks for currency prices.It does the job of displaying the chart, just about.There is no audio but I do not require that.Pro's:It installs very easily. You put the disc in while connected to the internet to complete the installation which takes seconds.The monitor came to life immediately. That was a relief.It works on Windows 8.1.And that's about it.Cons:On the top of my chart they are options such as drawings for adding lines on the chart, on this 3rd monitor it doesn't work properly and I lose sight of where the mouse cursor actually is.It flickers quite often which is not a major problem but it seems to effect the overall operation of the laptop, making it slightly more sluggish than it was before.The other monitor I have which runs off a direct VGA to VGA cable is no problem at all.To prove a point as if ordered for this review I have just had to pull out the cable to the 3rd monitor as my laptop screen was turning black every few seconds as I write this!!!!!Last week I had to power off the laptop with the main power button which I don't like doing...it took several attempts to restart the computer as it was non-responsive...finally by leaving the on button depressed for several seconds it came back to life!!If I get another monitor I would have to try the HDMI cable option direct to a newer monitor with the HDMI socket.That would be more expensive but I think it would definitely be worth the extra investment for a smoother running machine.I would not buy this cable again.I do not recommend this cable.UPDATE:I have had to change the review title from OK to disappointing :(Every day I have to turn the monitor off....pull the plug out and reconnect, usually this will take about 3 attempts.My charts freeze as well and sometimes it takes a few minutes to realise I am looking at the same candlestick pattern as the chart has not advanced in real time.So, NO!!! I would never buy this cable again, it's just not up to the job! Very frustrating.

It doesn't come with a CD, it took me a while to find the installation software is actually embedded in the device on a small external drive which appears once the device is plugged in. Once installed it works fine.

The item was a nightmare to install. Most things just auto install when you plug them in, but this came with a disk (no biggy). The problem was that the drives on the disc were zipped, so before I could install it, I had to find and download a programme to unzip it first. Once I unzipped the file, I was able to load onto my laptop but on plugging in the cable, it either left me with a black screen (worrying), and black/green/white striped screen (really worrying), or on some occasions it duplicated the picture that was on my laptop....but with AWFUL quality (not so worrying, but still naff). When the picture was showing, it had rings of slight colour change and it was all very pixelated.When I managed to get the picture to show, I tried to change the settings on my laptop to extend the picture across both screens, instead of duplicating the same picture. This options was completely greyed out in the control panel so impossible to change. The resolution was also impossible to change to anything higher than 800x600. The description of this item says it should be able to show resolution of up to 1920x1200. Very much NOT the case.Just to clarify, in case there is any doubt, I have used the screen I was testing the cable on, for years. When I plugged the screen directly into the laptop via VGA cable (instead of using this cable), the resolution was perfect and all image issues disappeared.The team I contacted when I was having trouble were very helpful and quick to reply to my Emails, but unfortunately they weren't able to tell me how to make it work as described. Nice customer service, just a shame the product is naff.Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend this to anyone......

This product simply did not work.It comes with no manual/supporting or troubleshooting information. The disk that is provided installed outdated drivers. If you then find the newer drivers online it STILL does not work.I have now tried this with multiple monitors, cables, USB slots, and installs. To no avail. Simply put go and buy something else, preferably from a more reputable company.If you do need a VGA to USB device there are numerous other ones around the same price point, or physical stores also stock them at roughly the same price. Pick any of the others and try them this one is shocking bad.
