My parents have been buying these bird houses for years, and they are definitely among the best available if you like purple martins. They are sturdy and if cleaned regularly will last a very long time.However, assembly is an absolute torture chamber activity. Small nuts and bolts and very tight fitting pieces, make this go on forever not to mention if your hands are larger than a typical two year old it is practically impossible.The instructions are OK however you need to pay very close attention to the parts labor wings and “up” markings.I consider myself a pretty handy guy, and it took me roughly 4 hours to assemble the 12 position unit.So, if you want the best I guess you’ve got to put in the time, but it seems to me that this assembly could be made much easier with something as simple as slightly longer bolts and holes drilled in a manner that gives a little room for connection of the pieces.

Save yourself the headache and get something already assembled. I've put together a lot of things, but this was by far one of the most frustrating. If you insist on doing it anyway, at least get someone to help. I did it alone, but you really do need and extra set of hands. Ugh and all those little screws are ridiculous. If you don't cuss before you start you will by the time you're done. Go ahead and have a drink ready too. Yes, it was that frustrating.

Completed unit great but 12-ft pole a little too short. Also, incorrect assembly part that came in box had to be exchanged for heavier, correct element.Company needs to review quality control. My sister also ordered a new unit in 2022 and box came without two of the perch rods.

Loved the product, have no birds yet but hopeful. Patience and time with right tools are needed - stubby screwdriver a must! The biggest disappointment is there is no reverence to a telescoping pole that fits.

First, I love this is made in USA. Here are my tips: needs two people to assemble; takes a good 8 hours to assemble; make sure you have the correct tools, there are plenty of nuts and bolts but no spare of anything else, tighten each floor as you go; the instructions are not that great so look at the box for reference; don’t allow small children around when assembling as your partner may swear a lot. Great product.
