Great for Prototyping, But Handle with Care
I've purchased the Symcode 2D QR Bluetooth Barcode Scanner multiple times over the past several years. The affordability and quality of this scanner keep me coming back whenever I need more devices for my projects. The versatility of the 3-in-1 connection options (Bluetooth, 2.4GHz wireless, and wired) and the 1.8-inch TFT color LCD screen make it a great tool for various scanning needs. The only downside is that it's not very rugged. If it's dropped too many times, it tends to stop working. So, if you need a scanner for a rugged environment where drops are common, this might not be the best choice. However, if you're looking to prototype a solution that requires a scanner, this is a great option without a massive expense. Overall, I'm quite satisfied with its performance and value for the price.

Tera HW0006Pro Clone
First upI picked this up because I needed a decent scanner for prototyping. And as far as it being a scanner goes, it's decent. Reads everything I've thrown at it, to include the PDF 417 barcodes on the back of a driver's license, wireless works fine, and overall seems to be pretty much just point and shoot, which is what you want in a scanner. Form, fit, and feel are also decent. Where it fails is in the software support. The support applications for the scanner, which allow for onboard inventory info and time synchronization, are hosted on some Chinese website that requires one of two Chinese social media accounts (QQ or WeChat) just to be able to download the files. This scanner would get 5 stars if the software was just hosted on a better site.Edit - Kicking this up to 4 stars, mainly because I figured out that it's a clone of the Tera HW0006Pro and I was able to pull the support software from Tera's website. So now this scanner is fully functional for me.

Don't lose the manuals! And make backups - you'll wear them out.
There are a lot of advertised features you can't use without the "Software Development Manual" (not included, ask Symcode for it in PDF form), such as a number of barcode types turned off by default, using continuous mode (don't need to use the trigger), volume control of the beep, and having it tell you what type of barcode that was (along with the contents). If you use storage mode you'll need the manual that DID come with the scanner, and if you use it regularly you may wear out the manual. I'm not sure that 5th-generation copies of the special barcodes will still work. Get an electronic copy. The scanner works very well. It's not perfect, but the checksum almost always catches a misread, and this usually involves a bent, dirty, or damaged barcode. It's fast. It can store a lot of data. The batteries last a long time. If you need to use the "don't go to sleep" barcode to keep it connected to Bluetooth, I suggest using the "go to sleep now" barcode overnight and weekends or the display will be on 24x7 and drain the battery.

Chinese
Everything online is Chinese. Sending unit back. Scanner works and like the features. However it fails to scan the main barcode I bought it for, scanning communications license keys. To download the software enabling good features is a joke. It's a file share site that you have to signup for to download. The software isn't even offered on there own site.

Barcode scanner that looks like a space gun! What's not to love?
It's sharp and quick. The LCD display can show asset information alongside scanning the codes into whatever document/program you are using. The manual is very thorough, although I would recommend grabbing a digitized version. I've scanned over 200 assets in three hours and had no major issue aside from reading dark brown QR codes on all black chassis devices (which I don't fault it for). And true to form, it can read almost all but the most heavily distorted barcodes. Good device, I'm picking up a few more for my colleagues.

Meh
The gun feels alright. Not heavy feeling, or light like junk plastic stuff. Just ok... Doesn’t read super far away from the barcode. The Bluetooth connection to computer and phone are easy to install and use right away with the gun.I bought this specifically to enter vin numbers from vehicles via the barcode on the door, or window. The gun will not read them.An item that just takes up desk space. Probably gonna toss it in the wire bin of wires & things...

Wow
For the price this thing is amazing. Fast scans built in Bluetooth easy to setup crazy long battery life. Not sure why you would even choose a competitor.

Works as advertised
Pro: price, screenCon: soft triggerThis scanner is really good for the price. There're some missing features I wish it had, the ability to browse back to more than just the last scan, the ability to delete the last scan to name a few. Also the trigger is very very soft. I ended up scanning the same barcode twice so many times. That's why the ability to delete the last scan is a very nice to have feature. But for the price, I'm willing to be very very careful.
