Fast and stable router with excellent FTTC modem
Having a decent router is a good place to start to get reliable FTTC at home. Connect this to your master phone socket via a filter faceplate. Very stable as a router. I use BT Whole House WiFi instead of the built-in Draytek WiFi.Offers prioritization for Teams/Skype/Zoom as well as extensive VPN features, and detail modem stats.WebUI can be slow at times but works well overall.

Not New - Second Hand
This item is clearly second hand, the box had writing on that had been scribbled out. The router packaging was already opened and seal removed the power pack box was opened and power pack has been used.

These are very professsional Routers with extra security and features compared to standard ones
I've setup quite a few of these and although they are a lot more complicated to configure than a standard home router they are a lot more secure and have lots of features such as VPN and firewall, Control Control etc

Rock solid and highly capable, if rather complicated.
This is a very capable, but very complicated router, it is therefore not for everyone, you need a degree of technical knowledge to use anything but the basic setup, you also need to be able to put in the time to configure it to your needs.I bought mine to replace a 10 year old Vigor 2860 as I wanted the OpenVPN and the mesh functionality that comes with the 2865 and AP903 access points., the vigor 2860 had been running faultlessly for the 10 years I've owned it without any issues and I hove no reason to suspect the 2865 won't do the same.It is an certainly upgrade to the 2860, with faster VPN throughput (300mbps aggregated) and better WiFi range amongst other improvements. I had a few teething issues with WAN fail-over, it wouldn't recognise a 5GHz wireless hotspot as the fail-over WAN at first, however after speaking to Draytek support, who admitted there was a bug, a firmware update was issued within a week that fixed the issue!I will never make full use of all it's features, however I am running a couple of VPN clients for work (testing systems in geoblocked locations), the 2865 allows specific subnets to be routed via specific VPNs (including NATing and separate DNS) , which means if the VPN is needed I can access it by joining the SSID that is routed via that VPN (i.e. I have a wireless setting called VPNWIFI, if I join that wifi I am routed via the VPN, if I join the normal wifi I am connected via the ISP as standard). I have had no ADSL drops or speed issues, I get 2 mbps slower via VPN compared to direct, which is excellent. I use the web content filter to block undesirable sites to provide child safety (this can be applied to all or only specified SSIDs), the QOS works well for gaming and the VLAN capability means subnet separation is extended out to the AP903 access points. The mesh functionality is a big improvement, I use it with wired uplinks and it has made moving between access point far more seamless, you hardly notice the hop now!.Others have complained about Draytek support. I have found the support in the UK excellent, even for the 2860 when it was around 8 years old. They have been generally knowledgeable and where they don't know the answer they have found out and emailed or called me back, they were a great help when setting up the VPNs and routing subnets via those VPNs.

2865ac supports SNMPv3 with SHA and AES
Given the importance of Internet access, most organisations will wish to monitor that connectivity. The standard method of monitoring a router is via SNMP. The DrayTek Vigor devices are the only *DLS* routers that I found that support SNMPv3 with SHA and AES security. Full marks to DrayTek.

Good product, poor courier
Product is great, but should review your courier and try and use a provider who is not Hermes or EVRI, unless its an amazon condition, you have to use them.

Robust unit with comprehensive interface
The router was bought to replace a BT Home Hub and we wanted a little more features than a typical home user so opted for a Draytek as they are loaded with features even if they come at a price above most home user units. The interface is complex but I feel it needs to be to give you the flexibility to modify the device to suit your network.Good signal and once set up plugged into the phone line and existing lan connections it worked first time. No dropouts or reconnections experienced with the client devices. The user manual is available on Draytek’s site and is required if you want to unleash the full potential of the device.
