Hults Bruk American Felling Axe

This axe is very sharp right out of the box and with just a little touching up with a Lansky Puck you can shave with the mirror edge. The grain orientation is perfect on the handle, it literally runs straight up and down and the head of the axe is nicely seated on the shoulder. Overall the quality and craftsmanship of this product is top of the line. I hold both a Granfors Bruk and now this Hults and i can tell you that the quality is darn near alike, If you're thinking about this axe for the price point, don't hesitate you'll be satisfied.

Obvious quality. Polished cutting edge was quite sharp out of the box. Perfect grain oreintation on my handle. Equal to the almost impossible to find Gransfors straight handled American Felling Axe. Straight handles are the best in my book. Forces you out of bad habits like not leveling out your swing when splitting. Love it.

Thing is just beautiful. I'm glad I could scoop one up, since the retail store that I was going to get it from recently stopped selling it. Everything looks pristine, and you can't really tell from the seller's photos but the edge is mirror polished and extremely sharp. Swung at a big 64" diameter tree on my property that I've been hacking away at every now and then and it just feels excellent. Dave Canterbury really made a good piece.

Excellent quality. Very sharp, holds an edge well, have not nicked or rolled the edge even on hardwood knots. Good balance, although hangs noticeably to the blade size of the head per the traditional head design. Fairly light mixed with mid length handle makes it very easy to use, even one handed or short swinging in tight areas. Fit and finish excellent. Exactly what you would expect from Hults Bruk.

So disappointed. $240 retail axe. Handle excessively bent and head hung at 25 degrees off from top to bottom point. Handle twists towards end of handle. Wedge not centered and space between handle and head. If I worked at HB factory this axe wouldn't have left. It's going back. I own a $25 axe made in Taiwan (Cold Steel Trail Boss) that reflects higher quality than this axe. I gave HB a chance to randomly sample their product and they failed. Off to try Helko Werk. This quality seems on par with David Canterbury's lies of having 20 year military experience as a U.S. Special Forces trained Airborne ranger, sniper, and been in combat. Turns out he was an MP on a base in Korea for 6 years. So I guess both HB and David Canterbury are a fit for one another taking marketing liberties with themselves and their product.

This axe is beyond fantastic. Wicked sharp right out of the box/ Nobody builds a better or more interesting axe than Hults Bruk. In addition to being pretty...in a very manly way of course, this thing is designed very well. The straight handle inexs well and the head makes short work of whatever your are swing it in to. It not as fast as a chain saw but it's easier to start...

This axe came razor sharp. Very well made, however, the "hand selected" hickory haft had a diagonal grain pattern. Not ideal for a 200 dollar axe.

Just received this axe yesterday so all I can comment on so far is workmanship. Overall fit and finish is of very high quality. The hickory handle has perfect grain orientation. The axe is very well hung. The axe also came with a highly polished, razor sharp edge. The included leather sheath is also very high quality and very thick leather.
