Assessing Reading and Spelling: For teaching structured literacy

Great new intervention programme for Dyslexics, endorsed by Helen Arkell Charity
What a great programme. Cost effective - no training needed! Well thought out and easy to follow for a non-specialist. Very impressed with the simplicity and the variety of elements to help improve spelling. Need all four books to get the most out of it.

Assessing spelling
The instructions on how to use are not the easiest to follow. I’m still not 100% sure what the easiest ways to test is however that might be me! The Excel additional resource and targets suggestions are helpful, the Excel in particular. I now use it for all my students.

Really useful!
I bought the set - For me they have become the skeleton to ‘hang’ all the information onto in a structured way. Having only one place to go is so useful. I am an after-school literacy/maths tutor (in a nursery setting) who works mainly with primary aged children who have dyslexia. I can see, once I am more comfortable with the lesson plans, how much time it will save in planning - I am very grateful. The flexibility of resources for tutoring has been hard to find."

Such a helpful resource to setting up a new teaching programme
I have found Sarah's series of books full of helpful advice, and have been an invaluable go to resource for lesson planning. Here she provides tests for reading and spelling which help you to pin point where there are gaps in a student's learning. Her books are clear and thorough and just invaluable in my opinion.

A gem of a book. So helpful!
This book came to me exactly when I needed it. As a tutor, I find this book a very valuable resource. It's a lot of content in a relatively small package which means I can just grab it and take it with me to schools and to the homes of my students. The book comes with a QR code to download digital checklists and resources too. Super helpful - wonderful resource!
