Nothing complicated. It just works well
It works. I don’t know what happened to the dedicated Ethernet port on my laptop, but this thing let me not worry about it.It functions well. I don’t need 10GbE, not even the 2.5GbE that this thing provides. Since it uses USB, it doesn’t take up my only USB-C port, so that’s nice connectivity wise.I thought I would need to install some software [at the very least some drivers], but I guess I forgot how electronics work sometimes, so all I had to do was plug it in, and I was all good. Basically, easy to install.

Perfect solution
The ethernet port on my laptop quit working. Rather than try to replace which sometimes can be difficult and not cheap, I elected to give this a shot. This thing worked perfectly. Connects to a USB port, ethernet connects to this device and Im getting speeds right 2.5gbps. (disclaimer, your internet access needs to be fast enough to support this speed, it wont magically make your connections faster).Very easy to use, plug and play, no software or alterations to your computer required. Highyl recommend.

Great for Network Attached Storage
Been working great to transfer files from my PC to my NAS. Plug and play, works for ROG ally as well. You will need a switch that is at least 2.5g.

Nice
EDIT (2024-09-07):After ordering a second adapter of this model and finding that one was also not working, I dug deeper and realized the USB ports I was plugging these adapters into is USB 3 Gen 2. After realizing this, I tried Gen 1 ports instead and noticed both adapters are working as specified. So, clearly these do not work with USB 3 Gen 2 ports; at least not in my personal experience. So, keep that in mind if you have a newer motherboard and are intending to use this adapter with those ports. And feel free to let me know if you have had a different experience. So, out of the four Ugreen USB adapters I've ordered (2 of these; 1 USB-c to Ethernet 2.5G; 1 USB-c to HDMI), only one of them was defective and needed to be returned (USB-c to HDMI). Hence, I have adjusted my review from 1-stars to 4-stars to reflect my recent discovery. I took off 1 star due to Ugreen not clearly stating that this adapter is USB 3 Gen 1 only, which would provide clarification for those purchasing this for a newer motherboard.---ORIGINAL REVIEW:This company's products are hit or miss. They work great when they work, but good luck playing their lottery. I've ordered two adapters from them in the past (one USB-C to HDMI and a USB 3.0 to Ethernet) and neither adapter worked. And I know it's their adapter in both cases because if I swap them out for another brand's adapters everything works fine. The only reason I switched to UGREEN is because they claim to have faster speeds. This leads me to believe they are not properly testing their products before shipping them... or they need to hire better QC personnel. The USB-C to HDMI adapter at least partially worked, but the sound was all staticky and cutting in and out. This USB 3.0 to Ethernet doesn't work at all. I get no network connection or signal. None.Their ethernet cables work great, so I'll give them credit there.I'm ordering a third adapter to give them one more chance, but if that doesn't work, it's strike three and I'll stick to the other company I alluded to above.

Works well with speeds over 2 gigs.
Works well with my 2gig fiber getting 2.3 gigs up and down. So far I haven’t noticed any latency issues with this device.

The easiest Ethernet hardware upgrade I'm glad I bought!
I have a desktop PC with a 2.5Gb Ethernet and decided it was time that my LAN should also be operating at that speed. So that meant buying a corresponding switcher and bringing my not so old Windows 10 laptop (I bought in 2020) and my definitely old (but still kicking!) 2012 MacBook Pro "up to speed" with a pair of these adapters. This is my first experience with Ugreen products and I'm very satisfied with these adapters! These are nice looking, easy to handle and I was finally able to do file transfers at way higher speeds than when I had a 1Gb Ethernet LAN. One seemingly underappreciated feature is that the USB Type A connector is slim and unobtrusive, which is VERY handy on laptops where the USB ports are very close together, such as my MacBook! As much as I like this adapter (even the packaging is nice), I have the following quibbles:1. The documentation doesn't specify what *kind* of Ethernet cable you'll need in order to get the full 2.5Gbit/s speed. I happen to have incrementally upgraded to Cat5e and Cat6 cables over the years for my LAN setup, but can everyone say that they have?2. Although the documentation tells you where to download the driver you'll need, Ugreen's web site doesn't have *the latest* drivers. You're better off downloading them from Realtek's web site. And you should do this download BEFORE you connect this adapter to your network! These quibbles aside, I highly recommend this adapter for anyone that wants a quick, easy and inexpensive upgrade to their LAN speed and throughput.

Works great! 👍
I recently upgraded to 2 gig fiber from Frontier. The network adapter in my desktop was only 1 gig. This thing worked fantastic, and I’m getting full speed from my provider!
