Q: Is there an App included with the item?

No. You have to get a compatible third-party App from the App Store or Google Play Store (some may NOT be free).

Q: Why do I have to pay for some features?

What features you can get mainly depends on your chosen App. Some Apps may be free to download, but some features require subscription or purchase. It's up to the App developers.

Q: Does it read transmission temperature?

The transmission (fluid) temperature is a manufacturer specific PID so it’s not read by most generic OBD2 Apps. Please contact support for App recommendation or search for the custom PID information & add it in the App.

Q: Does it work on electric vehicles?

It can work on most EVs, but it requires a proper App, for example Car Scanner (with the appropriate EV connection profiles), ABRP, EVNotify, EV Watchdog, etc.

Q: Does it read trouble codes in ABS or airbag?

These systems are based on the manufacturer's proprietary protocols and generic OBD Apps won't read them. It depends on if there is a capable App for your vehicle.

Capable OBD reader

Very easy to use this OBD reader. The functionality and data returned vary depending on the vehicle that you're connecting the reader to. I have connected this both to a 13-year-old Diesel car, and a three-year-old EV and with the latter it enabled me to see that the traction battery state of health was still 100%. The Bluetooth connectivity is stable and easy to set up. I consider this reader great value for money.

Standard OBD II scanner

I really want to give this OBD II scanner 3.5 out of 5. It does not offer anything more than the multitude of low-cost OBD-II scanners on the market.It is no better or worse than the others, so in this case 4 stars seems reasonable. You do have to install the software to make use of the scanner which is no bad thing as there are better apps out there that any proprietary software would offer – at this price range.Overall a good OBD-II scanner, nothing about it really stands out.

Just like you see on youtube

There are a lot of cheaper ones on amazon, but i just wasnt sure which one to go with. I downloaded the car scanner app, and they actually recommend a few brands and highly advise against the cheapos on amazon because they can mess with the electronics in your car. So i got this one, plugged it into my app, made sure to set the car scanner app to look for the android bluetooth connection, not ios which was default and im not on an iphone. Once you connect via bluetooth you have to also hit the connect button in car scanner and then you start to see the data coming in. There are a bunch of dashboards, the first dashboard was actually the one i was after, the bjorn dashboard, who is exactly the guy that i saw on youtube, so i didn't have to do anything in the app, it already had the dashboard i wanted for my EV. no issues in sight, does what i hoped.
