Wirless Tango and Excellent Value and Excellent Quality.

I purchased the Light-speed Tango Wireless headset as my first headset!! Just started learning to fly and I'm in the process of getting my private pilots license. I have been spoiled with noise cancellation as I a fly a lot for business and have had a set of Bose noise canceling headsets for a long time. So naturally, when I was in the market for a headset I looked at the Bose noise cancelling headset for pilots. While both are good, I found the Wireless Tango to be an excellent quality headset for a very reasonable price when compared to the Bose. I flown about 25 hours now with this headset and I love it!! Wouldn't change my mind if I had to "do over" again...Best of luck in your search...

excellent headset

I purchased the Tango Wireless Headset for use in my 421. I find the product to work very well. The noise reduction is very good and with the 421 being known as a quiet airplane, there is very little noise fatigue even on longer flights. I think the sound quality is excellent both for communications as well as music. I have not run the batteries out while in flight, but I would encourage carrying extras that you keep fully charged just in case. The only down side is you need to take your headphones out of the plane with you to keep them charged. I think a separate charger would be an excellent addition on part of the company. That way you could keep yours in the plane, and just change out the batteries. The wireless aspect is very nice. There is nothing keeping you attached and you can move around a bit if your plane has the room.

Comfortable

Bought these in May (so nearly 6 months of time in them). Call me a geek, but I didn't really need 'em but wanted to try headsets with "no wires" (and not that the wires ever really bothered me). My bretheran flyers have said I was nuts to buy 'em for a dumb reason like that. But that said, I do sort of love not having the wires (just feels a bit freer) and I do think the headsets are extremely comfortable (the description here says they weight 4.9 lbs. That simply can't be right - - I'm assuming that must be with the plug-in transmitter and case that comes with it. Though, it would be interesting to know their weight, but regardless they're very, very light and comfortable. I have about 5 sets of headsets and these are the ONLY ones my wife likes (and she simply can't be satisfied with anything - - I mean absolutely nothing - - so that alone makes them worth the price!!). All that on the table, I noticed that in some of the reviews somewhere, folks talked about being "annoyed" with a "tin-like" sound. There is definitely a different tone or tenor to voice modulation that comes through the headset - - but for me (a 30 year flyer) it didn't take me more than 2 flights (if that) to get used to it. I don't notice it all (at least) at this point - - it's just become standard for me. The "cons"? Well it is a bit of a pain to have to "think" each time you land ("Oh I've got to unplug these and take them home and make sure both the headset and transmitter are "recharged" back up). For that "con" alone - - if I was to buy another headset at this point (as my PIC headset), i'd probably weigh long and hard whether I'd get a wireless one again. Face it, you've got enough to remember before and after a flight - - and remembering to unplug the headset, and yes the transmitter and yes bring them home and yes unpack them and yes plug the headset in to a charger first and then yes plug the transmitter in to a charger second, and then of course when you go flying again: remember to unplug the transmitter (verify its charged, right) and unplug and headset (and verify it's charged, right?). . . well, nuff said, you see where I'm getting at. Also if you do indeed buy them, I HIGHLY recommend that each time you're done with the headsets you "unsnap" the earcup battery cover; take the battery "out" and put it back in. That's the ONLY way I can truly verify the headset if "OFF" and not wasting away any other battery life. To push and "hold" the on/off switch many times for me (has seemed like it was off) yet when I went to turn it back on, I found it had still been on all along and wasted the battery. So now at the end of the flight, I take out the battery and snap it back in each time (yup another thing to remember). But anyway at the end of the day, if you're a geek like me, (and, oh yes, if you have the pickiest prima donna wife, or daughter for that matter, in your state or county) well then they might be worth it. Hope that helps. PS - one other thing my long haired princesses like: is the "medal" strap adjustable headsets tend to "snag" their hairs etc. - - which they btch at me all the time about. These heads sets don't have those hair-grabber adjustable nuts and metal straps - - so it nice to look back at them, rosy checks, dimples and all, and see them "smiling" at me since they think I've listened to them in this rare instance of what they want. I know there are a number of you out there that has, all too many times, been in a take off roll, monitoring gauges and reviewing emerg. procedures in your head, to then have to be distracted by the squeals and yelps of "Why do you make me wear these hair grabbing headset" - - and then listen to a wife-husband lecture of how you never listen to her (all while you're coaxing several thousand pounds of plane, wife and family into some turbulent air). So again not hearing that enormous squealing and lecturing is another big (read: HUGE) plus. That probably makes them worth double the price come to think of it!

Simply Awesome

The Tango is an excellent headset that provides clear sound and superb noise canceling. I am giving this product 5 stars based on:1. Fit and Comfort (Great for sunglasses due to the soft ear seals)2. Noise Canceling Quality (sitting behind an O470R makes this feature a must!)3. Outstanding sound quality over bluetooth4. Overall Functionality5. Headset case is top qualityI fly a C182 that has a stereo audio panel with an in flight entertainment system, on long flights I either listen to the IFE or use the bluetooth connection to listen to music from my phone, both are great sound. One great feature of the bluetooth is the audible warnings from Fore Flight!!!! I wasn't sure how much I would notice not being tethered to the panel by the headset cables but it is a night and day difference. After leveling off in cruise the first time I used the Tango I started to notice a new sense of freedom with no cables at the headset. Additionally when I stopped for fuel I noticed the benefit of being wireless when I didn't have to hang my headset on the yoke and coil up the headset wiring. The COMM/NAV RX are clear as a bell along with the Intercom, I tested the intercom clarity by switching between a Zulu 2 and a Tango. I did a few radio checks while flying and all of the responses were "Loud and Clear"Overall and excellent product.

Less clutter in the cockpit!

Great headset. I had some questions about operation and they called me and explained some of the features. It is nice to have less clutter in the cockpit.
