Giani Roll-On Faux Shiplap Wall Kit

I used this kit to jazz up some plain, flat closet doors in an effort to not have to buy brand new ones. What I like about this kit is that it does a pretty good job of giving some visual interest that will do the job for now. What disappointed me a bit is that based on the instructional video that I watched, I thought there would be some pretty thick texture involved with the white paint. There really isn't any at all; in essence you're just painting stripes on, which could be done with any gray paint, really thin painter's tape, and white paint (with lastly some very-watered down gray paint to wipe on top). At $99, this kit is pretty expensive for basically two colors of paint. You do also get the tape and a little paintbrush (but no paint trays!!), a strip of paper marked in 6" increments, and a mitt which I found absolutely useless as it led to a TON of drips running down my white stripes that led to a lot of panicked fixing... A very lightly damp bathroom washcloth worked so much better for wiping on the watery gray topcoat. All-in-all my doors do look pretty cute and much better than they did before, but this kit seems a bit overpriced for basically just some paint and tape.
