Paula's ChoiceCLEAR Back & Body Exfoliating Acne Spray, 2% BHA (Salicylic Acid) Treatment for Bacne, Blackheads & Blemishes, 4 Ounce

I am 27F and started using this product for a bacne breakout in early May, and it is now August. An honest review (I don’t really feel comfy posting pics, but will try to be descriptive)…I broke out badly on my back with acne mechanica last winter. I’ve always had a pimple here and there, nbd, but THIS was new. I moved from the Deep South to a much colder climate, and my skin did not like it. It dried out, and the extra layers wreaked havoc on my upper back. I broke out horribly across my upper back, neck, and shoulders. (Not to mention I lost my perpetual tan lines, maybe the most tragic of all…)In May, bracing for sleeveless season, it was at its worst so I started treating with just PanOxyl in the shower. When that didn’t work, I went with this daily regimen:1. PanOxyl 10% foaming wash in the shower with a gentle scrub brush2. Paula’s Choice (this product) immediately after showering and drying3. Finish with a light lotion to moisturize (either Aveeno or CeraVe)4. Apply the Paula’s Choice as needed during the day (after sweating outside or gym mostly)5. Very minor lifestyle changes (changed sheets at least once weekly instead of once every two weeks, change out of dirty clothes more quickly, upped water intake, breakout was worse on right shoulder I think due to purse and gym bag straps rubbing my clothing on my skin, so carried on my elbows more)I did not see results until about two or three weeks in using this regimen. I noticed a slight decrease in new bumps although my husband did not. One month in, it was a little more noticeable. Two months in, I had slightly more healing spots than new ones and my husband said he could see a difference.After what’s now been three months, I am seeing great results! With this regimen, I would say my breakout has been reduced about 80%. There are still a few pimples and rough patches but I didn’t expect everything to clear up overnight. I think in my case it will take a couple more months to fully heal it. However, most of what I started with is gone, and the worst spots are healing (very slowly, but there are waaaay more healing/healed spots then there are new ones now).Since improvement has been noticeable, I also recently added Paula’s Choice Niacinamide (purple bottle) to maybe help clean up scarring and improve appearance even more. I have not used it long enough to comment yet. I am hoping this speeds up clearing some of the discoloration and healed spots.The scent is not my favorite. It’s kind of medicinal, but thankfully it is subtle and does go away with time. It is a small price to pay for something that works.Overall, I believe adding this to my regimen significantly helped to clear the worst breakout I’ve ever had. I haven’t even really had problems with facial acne since probably age 22, so this was a horrible experience for me and really wrecked my confidence. So I am thankful that I actually found a product that gives results, and I intend to keep using this in my skincare regimen for as long as it’s on the market.

I’ve suffered from cystic and general back acne since the age of 12. I’m now 48. I’ve tried EVERY product under the sun, taken Accutane, antibiotics, you name it. I’d completely given up on ANYTHING ever working. I started using this product two months ago. 2 weeks in, I ALMOST returned it, as I saw little results. Then the drastic changes started. This has not only kept away ANY new breakouts, but it is also healing all of my old marks and even scars. I cannot believe the results. It’s an absolute miracle. I get that the scent is slightly strong upon application, but it subsided quickly, and frankly it could smell like gasoline for all o care if it worked this well. There’s NO scent after a few minutes. It doesn’t dry completely, but rather feels like you put on moisturizer. But in a good way. I’m highly sensitive to most products, and this has given me ZERO reactions, dryness, or itching. I can actually see my skin looking more amazing every day. I never thought I’d find a holy grail product like this in my lifetime. The sprayer does get finicky once the bottle gets below 1/4 full, but I just save that one and add it to my new one when it gets low. I wish I’d found this months ago, as I literally can see myself for the first time IN MY ADULT life being able to soon go shirtless at a pool or beach, and I can’t even describe how much of a dream come true that is after feeling embarrassed for decades. PLEASE NEVER STOP MSKING THIS PRODUCT!!!

I’ve used Paul’s Choice Daily Clearing Treatment since 2017 but always struggled putting it on my back and eventually got too lazy. This product being in a spray bottle was game changer. I’ve been using the spray for a few weeks and it does work, but not as quickly or as effectively as the spot treatment. However, using them together is like magic. It’ll clear my breakout spots in as little as one day sometimes! The back and body spray’s active ingredient is salicylic acid (removes gunk on the surface and in pores) and the spot treatment’s is benzoyl peroxide (kills the bacteria that fuels acne). They work as a duo to get the job done quickly, but DON’T do this if you have sensitive or very dry skin. It works well for me but may be harmful to more sensitive skin. My dermatologist recommends doing one product in the morning and one and night. Say goodbye to long lasting breakouts!Oh, I should mention, the smell is like a faint puke odor. But it isn’t as bad as people make it out to be. You get used to it after a few times as well.

I have dealt with bacne for a very very long time. I have never been able to get rid of it no matter what I have used. I have always wanted to wear backless dresses and bikinis but I have been too uncomfortable with how my back looked. I started using this stuff and within a week, my back is clearing up so much! I feel a lot more confident and comfortable now. This is the product I will buy forever.

Im sure it works great, i've just started using it today. But does it have to smell like vomit.........

I really really wish I had a good picture of my back from when I was struggling with break outs. For the past year I was having issues with my entire back breaking out so I looked around for something to help it and found this. I used it every day once a day for a few months and it cleared my back up completely. I will get a bump every now and then but I haven't been using it at all anymore since it cleared my back up and I still haven't had breakouts like I was having. Now, I will say I also changed my eating habits and that could have also been something that helped to improve it but I don't want to take away from this stuff since it did start clearing up shortly after using it. :)

This stuff works miracles. I noticed a difference within the first week of using this. A must repeat buy.

I was skeptical of what a spray could do for my back break outs but this stuff works. After using it for a couple weeks I noticed less breakouts and spots have faded!!
