When my old Honeywell thermostat packed up, I decided to give Hive a try—I'd never used it before. I was expecting a tricky setup, but to my surprise, installation was super easy! The wiring was exactly the same as my old Honeywell oil boiler, so despite initially planning to call an electrician (who had a two-week wait), I ended up installing it myself. From unboxing to full setup with the app, it only took me about an hour.The connection was smooth, and now I can control my heating and hot water remotely, which is a huge upgrade. I'm still getting used to the app—one thing I haven't quite figured out is why the schedule sometimes reverts to 7°C despite being set to 20°C. sometimes reverts to 7°C despite being set to 20°C.One thing I do find disappointing is the thermostat display—why such a huge box, only for the actual display to be a tiny square in the middle? With today's technology, I would have hoped for a much better design. I also haven’t figured out how to keep it on all the time to easily see the temperature.But overall, this has been a fantastic improvement, and I’m so glad I went for this one! Highly recommended to all.

Nice thermostat which uses Zigbee to connect to the combi boiler receiver. I connected it to my home assistant z2m and it works as a charm. I don't need the hub and can control the heating including schedules via HA locally.

Honestly I think this is a great product.Pros:- It’s small- nicely designed and good to look at.- integrates with Apple/Android/AmazonCons:- Should be a dark surround version.- can be tricky to install (wiring)I love asking Alexa to set the temp or turn off the boiler from my bed. (It’s winter don’t judge me😜). Would I recommend this to someone… Yes, if they are as lazy as I am this is definitely a product for them. It’s a little pricey as a toy but that being said it does have its uses like being able to heat the house when I’m 10 mins away so that I’m not heating the house for Casper the friendly ghosts and the house is toasty when I get in.

Love these, installed loads. The app is brilliant, sometimes painful to pair but worth it. The stat is small and neat. Limited to functions however does exactly what is required perfectly. Time adjustable in app. Build quality is always brilliant as it temp control

Hive is fantastic, I have full control of my heating via the app. Installation is extremely easy once you figure out how, use YouTube, all that is needed is a screwdriver and a length of wire. No Installation instructions are included but it is so easy. The app is also so easy to use and setup schedules. I did have a bit of a mess about connecting to my WiFi, but persevere it comes together eventually. I bought the mini which is great value. The thermostat can be moved around to I suppose the coldest area.

After many hours, and blaming myself for why the hive mini wouldn't work in stand alone mode (using without the hub), I have determined the thermostat is simply faulty. For those who are interested in buying a smart thermostat, avoid this one. It will only work (potentially) with a costly separate hub device that consumes power and space, and only connects to your internet via network wire; very archaic in this wireless world. Your phone app will only connect to the thermostat via the hub, making the thermostat useless for anything other than setting a static temperature. That is if you can get it to work in stand alone mode, which I could not. Save yourself time and headache and get a Nest. I had this in a previous house and it worked beautifully, all via wifi, and only one device instead of three. Unfortunately I came to that conclusion after buying this and after missing the return window when I believed I could still make it work, now I am left with buying a costly hub or cutting my losses and getting something different..
