FT-1 is the best
I have both the FT-1 and the FCT-2, and I prefer the cheaper FT-1. It's a bit easier to see in high light (like outdoors), and the entire background changes color when you're in tune, which I've found is easier to distinguish: you can almost watch out of the corner of your eye. Both are excellent tuners that pick up on the note quickly, have a nice strong clamp that won't lose grip easily, and are small enough to fit into the little compartment with all the picks, although I just leave mine attached to the head most of the time. You really can't go wrong with either one, but if you're on the fence about it, I recommend the FT-1.

This Really Works
This Fender guitar tuner works great. It is easy to use. I bought it for my 6 string acoustic guitar and my husband's ukulele. I clipped it on as shown in the directions and started strumming the E (first string) and the tuner showed whether I needed to tighten or loosen the string until indicator on the tuner was in the center of the screen. I then tuned the following strings until the guitar was tuned. Easy peasy. The screen on the tuner is rather small and the item itself was small, however other reviews warned me about this, therefore I expected the same. It's worth the money and I am happy with the product.

EASY TO USE
PRO - An inexpensive tuner for your guitar. Uses the most common “button battery” out there, the CR2032 that’s also used in most garage door remotes. When you’ve perfectly tuned a string, a great feature of this device is that the screen changes colors. Bright green tells you at a glance that the string is perfectly tuned.CON - Directions could be better, they don’t match up exactly with the images on the display. Also, while the display screen is very clear, it’s on the small size.

You'll need a small phillips out of the box
Came with the CR2023 battery separately and not inside. Just an FYI. Needed a phillips screwdriver to open it up to put the battery in. At first I was like, it's not turning on WTF. Then I realized it. Not a big deal, but might surprise some people out there. Works great!!! Used a phone tuner the day before and it showed that it was off quite a bit. Now it sounds perfect, good stuff!!

Great Little Tuner
Just received this Fender FCT-2 tuner today (Imagine that: delivery on Easter Sunday!). This is a great little tuner and far exceeds my expectations. It replaces my ancient Fender X-1000 tuner which has always been difficult to use. This is easy to use and very accurate. If you're considering this tuner, here are a couple things that might help you. First, you'll have to install the CR2032 battery. To do that, you'll need to remove the small phillips screw at the top of the tuner using a #0 phillips head screwdriver (photo 1). As you turn the screw counterclockwise, it will lift the top of the tuner up from the body revealing the battery compartment, a small circular pocket (photo 2). Pull the top out and insert the battery with the + side facing you (photo 3). Now, re-insert the battery compartment into the tuner, engage the screw, and tighten it until the top is seated against the body of the tuner (photo 4). Press the power button on the front of the tuner. In my case, the first tuning mode to appear was G (for guitar), but you can continue to press the power button for other modes.

Very useful! Even if you can tune your guitar by ear.
I've avoided getting one of these for many years since I can tune my guitars by ear, but sometimes the strings go out of tune ever so slightly, which I can hear while playing along with a song, but then when trying to fix those microtunings I have to spend more time than I like on it. This tuner saves me a lot of time. And I love the fact that it works on the guitar even if it's an electric guitar and not plugged in. More specifically, I use it for my bass, since I primarily play the bass guitar. I put it on, turn it on, and within a minute or two my bass guitar is perfectly in tune. And then a few days or a week later it might be very slightly detuned, and I just put this tuner back on and it's done.
