Doctor Who: The Christopher Eccleston & David Tennant Collection (DVD)

Great DVD set for S1 to S4!
Excellent DVD set for the first four seasons of the 2005 Doctor Who series. The discs themselves were fine (playable) and the box they came in is nice (as far as DVD boxes go). I also purchased the Matt Smith and the Peter Capaldi DVD sets (which I also recommend) and will probably buy the Jodie Whittaker DVD set (once the price comes down, that is). Also, another reviewer stated that there were missing episodes. Nooooo, don't believe that because these discs contain ALL of the episodes and specials. They were likely making an ASSUMPTION about missing episodes since S1 Episode 13 is not on disc 1, it's actually on disc 2.Do I recommend? Yes, yes I do.Do i regrest this purchase? No, not at all.

The best of the new Who
Gosh. Just what I needed for my Whovian peace of mind, a collection of the complete seasons of the best of the new Who.Sure, everyone has their favorite and I'm going to go through mine. Just pointing out that my choices are the correct ones, since I'm never wrong (except when I am).So, you get seasons 1-4 in this box set, along with the Christmas specials. Woo hoo.Season 1 brings back the Doctor and changes his companion relationship to a more modern and much friendlier version. Perhaps a bit too far, given the Doctor's notorious decades of putting distance in that area, but refreshingly handled (at least for these seasons).Seasons 2-4 bring on David Tennant, the best of the new Doctors. He captures much of the best of the old (Tom Baker) while fitting in nicely with the modern plots. He has great comedic timing without the clowning of Matt Smith and can be just as dark as Peter Capaldi. We'll never know just how good Christopher Eccleston could have been as the Doctor, due to his abrupt departure after just one season, but he did superb work setting the foundation for the Doctors to come.Whether Smith was a clown by nature or by script, his seasons somewhat suffered from this and the insufferable Clara episodes. Likewise, Peter Capaldi was wasted during his two years as Clara's assistant, so we'll never truly know about him either. Finally, our new Doctor, Jodie Whittaker, is painful to watch. Not because of the novelty of a female Doctor, but the heavy-handed scripts that too often try to squeeze out "messages" instead of sci-fi.So, this is as good as you're going to get and it's darn good!I know there are some complaints about packaging, but the only thing I can fault is the annoying "overlap" style, which means you have to lift the top disc to get at the next one. If you're binge watching, not a big deal, but if you doing this over several weeks, eh.Otherwise, the discs seem quite secure and the package is a real space saver compared to 4 separate boxes. It's a great deal for a a great deal of Doctoring fun.

LOVE THESE CASES !!!
I don’t know why people have a problem with these cases . I look for cheap tv series in these cases just so I can get the case- because no one sells them . I’ve bought over 30 of them and used them to consolidate a lot of my complete tv series . I wish all complete tv series came in these boxes . Here is the problem people have - each side of the tray holds 2 discs but they must go on in a certain way . One hub is higher than the other . This is for the disc that is on top . The other one is lower , this disc goes on the bottom underneath the top disc . If you can’t see it with your eyes , then feel it with your fingers . If you have the bottom disc on the top hub and the top disc on the bottom hub , yes it’s gonna be hard to put on or take off ! And then I can see how you might crack them . And those 2 tabs might be a little tight at first but they loosen up real quick . To begin with, you just push them down to release the disc . You don’t pry them up .

Excellent copy of Series 1-4!!
The box comes with 12 discs, broken up into 3-4 episodic chunks. The last 3 specials, the Waters of Mars, and the End of Time Parts 1 and 2 on the final disc.Came with zero dents or any sort of damage. Although the last two discs somehow popped out during transit, they were however undamaged.Would recommend to any Doctor Who fans!!

All the Episodes
The packaging is subpar, but the set contains all episodes, including Christmas specials, which is exactly what I was looking for. I transferred the disks to a holder with all the other doctors' sets for a one stop collection.

NO LISTINGS - DISCS LOOSE
I was one of the lucky few to get this for the sale price of $19.99 and the packaging was just as I expected. It is adequate, arrived undamaged, but some of the discs were loose. I haven't had a chance to play them all so I don't know if any were damaged or not - however they all LOOK OK. The one thing I really missed was a listing of which episodes belonged on which disc. I did expect some kind of insert with this info on it, but no, basic means basic - the discs only. All in all, worth the price.
